Ernest Bevin Boys win VE 16 Cup

In the most exciting match that I saw over the weekend, the Ernest Bevin side won the VE U16 cup.
They beat old rivals Boswell School from Chelmsford, 3-1, taking the last set 26-24.
The first two sets saw the Ernest Bevin side destroy Boswells with powerful hitting and masterly blocks. Then Boswells came out fighting, and although the South London lads tried to get back from 24-17 eventually the Essex boys took the set.
The fourth set saw Ernest Bevin take a strong lead and then faulter at 22, allowing their opponents back, before a power spike into the middle of the Boswell's court by Warren Francis won the Cup.

ULU Women win the VE KO Cup

ULU Women the first Non-National League side to reach a VE Cup Final, provided some great entertainment to a very good crowd, as they beat Polonia Ladies in a thrilling 5 set match.
You can read the full article on the VE Website. The full score was University London Union 3-2 Polonia Ladies (20-25, 25-14, 16-25, 25-22, 15-10).
ULU's Marietta Vafea looked shocked when she was presented with most valuable player, but it was well deserved for her play towards the winning climax.

Malory come 2nd in the Men's Cup Final

London Malory the National League Men's Champions were well beaten by the young team from Sheffield.
Sheffield 3-1 London Malory (25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18)

Richmond win second division

As the crowds were assembling to watch the start of the Boat Race, Richmond were beginning their celebrations after defeating Putney's PVC Boys 13:25 21:25 10:25 in a concentrated display that gives them an unassailable lead in the North and West Division of the Epidote Projects Volleyball League. Barbara Totterdell, proprietor of the sponsors, offers her congratulations and adds, "As this is the first time that I have watched the London Division 2 in detail (greatly helped by 2T), it has been interesting to see the battles! Richmond were obviously determined to return to Division 1 play - congratulations from EP!."
